My paper: 15cm x 15cm origami paper. Also works with rectangles

To make a pen holder make a deep box and use cardboard or other thick paper (21cm x 21cm or larger sheet)

For a pen holder, make the starting fold down further so that you have taller sides and a smaller base. experiment with different with different size squares? and different materials until you find a good fit for day-to-day use.
