Designed by Robert Lang, folded by me from a 10 inch (25cm) square of tissue. This was my first fold-through, and I'm fairly pleased with the result, particularly that I was able to get the antennae and legs as thin as I did. This thing is like spread-squash hell...

Nice. i remember folding this 10+ years ago from tissue-foil and it was really tough. this looks great.

Thank you so much quentin! i can't imagine having done this with tissue foil...i get vicarious frustration just thinking about it.

Very good fold! i once folded this from t-f and it came out very well!

First i tried with foil with just one side tissue. that was a disaster and even less easy to sink, so later i folded it with tissue on both sides of the foil. but the legs and antennae on yours looks awesome, something that can't be done with t-foil. mine was also from about 25cm, i should get it out and post it so you can see the differences (i still have it). good job again!

Excellent folding!!

I'd love to see your rendition, quentin...you're an exceptional folder. i'll tell you the secret to the legs and antennae...nori paste. just use it like hair gel one leg at a time.

It looks so real... awesome fold!

Mmm, i just dug it up and realised i've been mistaken. all the while i've been referring to the black pine sawyer in insects and their kin. i havent folded anything from insects 2. sorry about that! anyway, great folding, i'll have to check into that nori-paste, although i don't really do insects anymore, but it may come in handy for something like horns and antlers...
Closedunsink [13-May-2013]
Ah, you know i never have finished the black pine sawyer...i think i have one that is up to like step 7 or so that i left sandwiched in the pages a good dozen years ago...also, nori paste is just awesome all round, even for non-insect models...i'm actually using it at the moment for the talons on seth friedman's coopers hawk.

Could you get the same result with thick mixed methyl cellulose as you would with nori paste?
