You often see these made from dollarbills, but it is actually much easier (and prettier) made from a simple half of a square sheet of paper. I give away bunches of these at Valentine's for little kids. I think I made 50 last year.

I forgot -- i should have said that i leave out the fold to take up the extra paper in the middle. when you use a true double-square, there is no extra that needs to be hidden.

These are great. i made one myself (http://www.craftyartworld.com/origamiheart.php) with a tutorial and everything, but my finished piece didn't turn out near as nice. i think it has something to do with your paper. yours was only colored on one side, so the inner floral design on your heart stands out much more than mine. i love them.
