24 cm square of light violet watercolor paper. Many thanks for the diagrams and the nice letter Sipho! i really appreciate it and will treasure both, the letter and the diagrams forever! it means a lot to me! I really enjoyed folding the model, i think i'm slowly exploring how to fold it properly, but i know i still have a lot of training ahead before i fold this the way it deserves! ;-P

Mabona origami [19-May-2013]
Hey pete, it looks good, i think it will look a lot better if you use a lighter weight paper. around 40 gsm maybe the neck crimp could be a little wider and longer so the beak doesn't point upward. otherwise it looks nice! i'm happy to hear you like the folding sequence!

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/sipmab] thank you so much for your nice words sipho! i know the head is not perfect, but i'll try harder next time! i have an excuse though, the paper was so thick this was about as much as i could crimp it on the upper half of the neck¨, no wonder, i think my paper was around 150 gsm... now i have the part i need to focus on! i really like the model! i'm definitely trying it again tomorrow!

Awesome! didn´t know you could use that paper, isen´t it hard to fold?
Origamipete [18-May-2013]
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/axelsorigami] you can use quite thick paper, but it depends on the given model. if there aren't too many layers being squeezed, it is possible to fold, otherwise you are in a high risk of either not being able to finish the model or ripping the paper. i think this model is on the very edge of what i could fold from thick paper, it's hard to believe, but there are 64 steps in the diagrams.

Wooow! so graceful! that really gives out the feel of a free swallow! you're wonderful! with thinner paper, i think you could fold the neck a bit better!
Origamipete [15-May-2013]
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/tskorigami] thanks! i plan to fold it from tant soon! =)
Detomaso77 [15-May-2013]
Wow! origami perfection! how on earth do you do that ;-)
Origamipete [14-May-2013]
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/detomaso] you better ask sipho mabona this question, he's the author of this model, i only followed his instructions. but thank you very much! =)
